WIC is a nutrition education, supplemental food, and breastfeeding support program for Women, Infants, and Children aimed at improving the nutritional status of mothers and children during key growth stages. WIC serves children up to the age of 5 years and women who are pregnant, post-partum 6 months, and breastfeeding up to 1 year.
Participants must meet income guidelines, and many working families qualify. WIC is not a welfare program.
